Born and raised in Puerto Rico in May of 1983, I was lucky enough to be part of the most loving, funny and caring family: Jaime (father), Dalia (mother), Denise (sister) and Ricardo (brother). Like any other kid,  I was very happy, creative, sassy and gay. After a few years, society had a different idea of who I could and couldn’t be. That, in combination with never being taught how to nourish my body with clean and healthy foods, led me down a path of losing my identity. It wasn’t all bad; at 12 years old I discovered a passion for drawing illustrations and cartoon animation as well as the sports of swimming and triathlon. I was really, really good at them. I went to Savannah College of Art and Design to get my bachelors degree in animation and illustration. While in college, I took cycling classes where one of the instructors inspired me to pursue a career in health and wellness. In 2007, I became a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). A year later I got a job at Equinox Gym, Greenwich Avenue in New York City. By 2015, I continued my health and fitness journey as my own business, Jaimefit. Since then, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with highly motivated clients who inspire me to be my absolute best in body, mind and spirit. I spend most of my days learning about health, psychology, philosophy, nutrition, emotional well being, building strong relationships with the self and others as well as enjoying great movies and books like George Orwell’s 1984, Tom Hanks’ Philadelphia, James Baldwin’s Notes of A Native Son, Pedro Almodovar’s Volver and many more.
